My immediate family’s culture is very diverse. My father was
raised in North Carolina and relocated to New Jersey in his teens. My mother
was raised in New Jersey with her twin brother and 5 other siblings. In their
twenties, after having my older sister, they relocated to Southern California
to get away from the cold weather. While in California, they expanded the
family and had two daughters (including myself). In the summer of 1994, the
family relocated to Georgia. My immediate family still lives in Georgia. I relocated
my family to Florida a year ago to accept a teaching position after graduating
in 2012.
My family has many different experiences in all parts of the
country. We are truly a mix of various cultures. We have been in the south for
many years but many of our traditions and diet is from the North were my
parents were raised. We all love the beach and enjoy the warmer weather. This
comes from living in California for over ten years. Georgia is considered home
to myself and other family members. Our children were born in Georgia and it
represents the majority of comforts we enjoy.
