Family Roles
My great-grandparents on my father’s side were landowners
and farmers. They lived in North Carolina and worked very hard daily. My
grandparents on my mother’s side were middle class and lived in Northern New
Jersey. My grandfather served in the military and fought in World War I. After
returning from the war, he went on to be a custodian and then owned his own
jewelry store. My grandmother had 7 children and worked as a nurse’s aid.
Traditions and Beliefs
My family has many traditions that we carry on to this day.
We get together whenever everyone is available for breakfast and/or dinner. We
celebrate each other’s birthdays, graduations, and other accomplishments as
they come. We don’t wait for holidays to so how much we love and care for each
other. My mother has always taught us not wait to give someone a present
because that day may never come. It isn’t unusual to receive gifts at random
times during the year. We believe that is takes a village to raise a child. We
work together to care for each others children, and my mother is the rock in
our family.
My family believes in family. We support each other and try
to lend a helping hand when needed. We were raised to value to what we have and
to life within our means. We also believe in helping others. Many of us
volunteer, work with children, and or the elderly. The children in our family
are taught to be kind, wise, responsible, and respectful.
